About

Welcome to the Butchers Block.
I was born and raised in Switzerland, where I made a four year apprenticeship as a butcher and slaughterman, after completing the trade exams I entered the Master Butcher school for an additional year.
Over the past 45 years I worked in various meat processing companies, in a variety of positions and I am currently employed as head butcher in the "The Local Butcher" shop, Merritt, British Columbia, Canada.
I take great pride in my profession but also carry a deep respect and sense of responsibility toward the animals we raise for food and the people who raise them. That same dedication and professionalism is extended to the processing and preparation of meat and meat products for our customers.
As a butcher it is my professional pride and priority to turn animal carcasses into high quality meat cuts and meat products that reflect the hard work it takes to raise healthy livestock and provide customers with healthy, nutritious meat.

SERVICES:
This service is provided for livestock owners in the Nicola Valley, British Columbia.
Slaughtering livestock on the farm for personal consummation is the not only very convenient and cost effective for the livestock owner. Farm slaughtering is also the most humane way to kill an animal for human consumption. The animal does not experience stress and anxiety from being loaded and transported to a strange place. Instead the animal stays in its familiar surrounding where is feels relaxed and content. Meat from such animals yields a superb meat quality.

Farm Slaughter Fees:

Beef: ................Can$ 120.00
Hogs:............... Can$ 75.00 (If hogs need to be scalded animal owner must provide hot water.)
Sheep/Goats:... Can$ 60.00
